Home Sweet Home Survey

Along with Movement for Change, the Home Sweet Home campaign began in July 2013. It's aim is to tackle rogue landlords, rip off letting agency fees and improve the quality of the rented housing sector.

We want to hear from you, about your experience of renting in the city.

Do you think agents letting fees are too high?

Q: Please tell us about your experience of renting.
A: I now have bought a house, and would be paying much more in rent than I am on a mortgage. My last landlord (found through the newspaper) was great, he fixed things all the time and the house was in a good state. The place before that looked lovely on the surface, but we soon discovered it had water running down the walls and mould growing. Landlord seemed unable or unwilling to fix this problem as it would have cost money. That time I had paid a letting agent £150 to check our passports were real, and the letting agent did nothing about the water problem.
